Privacy Policy

Effective July 29, 2026

Glean is a private visual-memory app. This policy explains what information Glean processes, why it is needed, where it goes, and the choices you have.

Information you provide

Technical information

Glean records privacy-safe operational events such as request type, status, duration, capture kind, counts, and opaque record identifiers. Glean does not put saved text, URLs, filenames, authentication tokens, request bodies, or content previews in application logs.

How information is used

Information is used only to authenticate you; accept and synchronize saves; extract, summarize, classify, search, and display your library; recover failed processing; secure the service; and diagnose reliability problems. Glean does not sell personal information, show targeted advertising, or track you across apps and websites.

Processing and service providers

Glean uses Supabase for authentication, database, private file storage, and server functions; Fly.io for private extraction services; and OpenAI for cloud classification, summaries, and embeddings. Content needed for a requested operation may be sent to those providers. Some optional reading and summarization happens on your Apple device instead. Public pages you save are fetched from their publishers or platform APIs.

Storage and security

Account data is separated by authenticated row-level access controls. Uploaded media and extraction artifacts are stored in private buckets under your account identifier. Sessions are kept in the Apple Keychain. Network traffic uses encrypted HTTPS connections. No system can guarantee absolute security, but access is limited to what is needed to run Glean.

Retention and deletion

Your account content is retained while your account exists. You can delete individual saves in Glean. You can permanently delete the entire account from Settings → Delete account on iPhone or iPad, or Delete Account in the Mac menu. Apple-backed accounts confirm with Apple so deletion can revoke Glean’s Sign in with Apple access; email-code accounts do not request an unrelated Apple credential. Deletion removes database records and private storage objects and signs the device out.

Deletion removes the active account and live content. Minimal security or operational records, and copies already present in a service provider’s protected backup cycle, may remain only for the provider’s standard retention period or where law requires it. They are not used to recreate an active Glean account and expire under the applicable retention process.

Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, export, restriction, or deletion of personal information by contacting support. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. The in-app account deletion flow is the fastest way to erase the account.

Children

Glean is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated and notice will be provided where appropriate.
